RENEWABLE PROPANE BUILDS UPON THE MANY BENEFITS OF CONVENTIONAL PROPANE

Thousands of fleet owners choose propane autogas because it offers many environmental, economic and operational benefits. With Nexio’s advanced technology propane engine, fleet owners can experience the power of diesel while producing less greenhouse gas emissions and air pollutants, ultimately saving on operations costs.

Propane engines deliver the low greenhouse gas emissions of any propane It will also deliver some of the lowest emissions in the medium-duty market. It is an ultra-low NOx engine that will meet or exceed EPA and CARB regulations.

For fleets and other end users looking to meet environmental goals, renewable propane is available in the market. It has the same chemical structure and physical properties as conventional propane. It has an even lower carbon intensity than conventional propane because it’s produced from renewable, raw materials. This fuel can be used in any existing propane autogas engine or propane autogas infrastructure. Therefore, fleet owners will be able to easily implement this cleaner energy source in their own vehicles.

Propane is a low carbon energy source commonly used in millions of homes across the country for cooking, home heating, hot water and many other applications. It can also be used as a clean vehicle fuel in medium duty trucks, for rural propane delivery, and mining, dock, and transit applications.

Approximately 30 billion gallons of propane are produced annually in the United States and about 80% of U.S. propane is produced during the natural gas refining process. Because of that, its price is decoupled from the price of crude oil set by the global market.

Propane is an abundant and portable natural resource in North America. It can be distributed in liquid form using ships, rail cars, trucks and via pipelines. Best of all, propane is an environmentally friendly energy source. When compared with other options like diesel or gasoline, propane can significantly reduce harmful emissions.

Since propane is produced in the U.S., the domestic supply is shielded from global geopolitical and economic shocks. Unlike gasoline and diesel, it provides a reliable energy source for business owners.

PROPANE IS AN ABUNDANT DOMESTICALLY PRODUCED FUEL

As a vehicle fuel, propane autogas is affordable and typically costs as much as 50 percent less than diesel. The wholesale cost of propane autogas falls between the price of oil and natural gas, which are the fuel’s two sources. Because of this, propane autogas prices don’t fluctuate as sharply as other fuels, so fleet owners are able to easily manage fuel budgets.

Due to the cost-effectiveness of the fuel and reduced maintenance costs, propane autogas provides fleet owners with the lowest total cost of ownership.

  • Gary S. Winemaster is the chief executive officer of NEXIO Power, a green-powered truck and chassis provider. His passion for clean energy and alternate fuel engine technology drives NEXIO’s strategic direction in the dynamic, rapidly growing field of clean energy-powered commercial medium—and heavy-duty vehicle solutions, a sector with immense potential for the future.

As the former founder and CEO of Power Solutions International for 34 years, Winemaster's leadership was instrumental in the company's success and global recognition as an alternate fuel engine leader in the industrial and on-highway markets. His understanding of engine performance technology, evolving industry trends, disruptive product innovations, and market opportunities drove the company's growth and led to significant accomplishments. Under his leadership, PSI expanded its product portfolio, increased its market share, and established a robust global presence, all contributing to its recognition as a leader in the industry.

Winemaster's leadership established strategic supplier and customer partnerships that were crucial and instrumental to the company's growth. At his retirement, the company had a workforce of over 1,000 and recorded nearly $500 million in product shipments in 2018. PSI has delivered over 1.5 million engines to leading global OEMs at their locations worldwide, a testament to the strategic partnerships Winemaster formed with industry giants like Navistar, Freightliner, Yutong, Hyster, Yale, Kohler, Cummins, and Caterpillar, among others.

Winemaster's journey began at the University of Pennsylvania-Wharton School, where he was twice named captain of the Varsity Football team and achieved All-Ivy League and regional individual honors. After college, he began a career in Europe, starting in Luxembourg. He developed and implemented strategies for a leading global glass manufacturer, focusing on market penetration, which led to the total sellout of the factory's production. This experience gave him valuable business insights and foreign cultural experiences, shaping his leadership approach.

  • A recognized global leader in high performance and racing engine designs, gasoline & alternative fuel combustion engineering, Automotive Chassis design and Powertrain Solutions. The Founder of Mast Motorsports in 2006, it has become an industry recognized premier manufacturer and supplier of performance engine cylinder heads, components, and high-performance engines.

Mast has used his entrepreneurial spirit to expand his company, and many others, over the years to also encompass a wide range of complete OEM engine requirements. He has provided unique powertrain solutions, alternative energy engine designs as well as electric and fuel cell vehicle chassis for zero-emissions commercial vehicles.

Mast most recently designed and manufactured the NEXIO 7.2L Supercharged Propane engine. This engine is the first and only engine in Europe to be emissions certified under Euro 6 regulations for on-highway utilizing LPG as an alternative energy source.

He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering with a Mathematics minor from Texas A&M. Also, while at Texas A&M, he led the engineering school’s Formula SAE team to University world championship by introducing a novel supercharged engine.
